Finally Lost My Fishing Virginity!!

... But it was in that moment of "pleasure" that a cord struck...

What kind of animals are we humans?
We love killing so much, we invented guns.
Our lives are an epitome of hypocrisy,
This epiphany dawned on me Thanks to a lil fishy.

I cast my line, and waited with 'baited' breath,
The scotching sun, made my edifices sweat.
When suddenly i felt a tug that pulled on my line,
Oooh baby that fish is soo mine!!

As i reeled it in, it repelled and fought back,
It struggled, probably knowing the prawn was its last snack.
As its body emerged from the water, i was proud of what I did,
The joy and excitement on my face i couldn't rid.

Gaping, struggling to breathe, trying to break free,
The fish wanted to live, but i was blinded by my glee.
Posed for photos, proud of my catch,
Unwittingly, seeds of sadism began to hatch.

I yanked the hook from its gaping mouth,
Still I din't see its struggle or pout.
Cast it aside to let it flutter,
Let my empathy & sympathy flow down the gutter.

Three fish later, I called it a day,
Felt rewarded like it was some sort of pay.
The drive back home, got gears of thought into motion,
Deluded, & with a false sense of pride I've come up with this notion.

We're barbaric, no animal does what we do,
Watch videos of hunting and killing while sitting in the loo.
We kill for fun & pleasure and call it sport.
Here's my own hypocrisy put down in a note.

We're hopelessly doomed, things will never get better,
Cynical I may sound, so sue me with a letter.
We thrive on suffering, while making ours go away,
We advocate for peace, while with sentiments and emotions we play.

Watching a fish die may seem rather insignificant,
But that's heartlessness, that's so very blunt.
I'm not canvassing for vegetarian diets or renouncing fish n meat,
I'm just saying we're cruel, and proud of a deplorable feat.

Judge me by this, abuse if you must,
A lil hatred will ensure I don't get my own bust.
Let's atleast, be kinder to the people we meet and live around,
By courtesy, and genuine concern, let our lives be bound.
